The Newport Chamber’s Young Professionals, or Yo-Pros, is a group of earlier-career Chamber members who come together for civic projects and social networking events. The mission of the Young Professionals is to improve the quality of life for this group and to maintain the age demographic of Yo-Pros residing in Lincoln County.
Some networking opportunities include: Lunch Mobs, which are held at different restaurants as a way for the group to network while supporting local Chamber businesses. The Yo-Pros also get together for social hours, typically held Wednesdays once a month from 5:15 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. All young professionals in the area are invited to attend a lunch mob or social hour and should check the Newport Yo-Pros Facebook page for dates and locations.
The Yo-Pros team up for local causes and have hosted events such as “Bowling for Hunger,” where they knocked down pins while collecting canned goods for the local food pantry and “Poker for Pets” where they had fun gathering supplies for the local animal shelter. They volunteer their time each year to cook and serve a Thanksgiving meal to over two hundred of Newport’s senior citizens at the 60+ Activity Center.
Many more projects and events are in store for the group. If you are interested in participating in this group please contact the Newport Chamber of Commerce at 541-265-8801, or visit their Facebook page for updates.
