Registration Rules & Requirements


Newport's Festival Competition casts an early focus of attention on Northwest wines in the new year.
  • Submission Deadline: Wine is due to the Chamber by Thursday, February __, 2011.
  • Judging Dates: This year's judging will take place on Saturday, February __ and Sunday, February __, 2011.

Results will be sent to all participants and the press one week before the 2011 Seafood and Wine Festival. Our Commercial Wine Competition is judged by a panel of five judges who award Gold, Silver, Bronze and Best-In-Show Medals. Awards will be presented at the Festival.


RULES FOR ENTRY:

  1. 1. This competition is open to all bonded Pacific Northwest wineries who will have their wines featured at the 2011 Seafood and Wine Festival. Wines may be poured by the winery or an organization representing the winery. Organizations pouring for a winery should contact their winery's representative to determine if they would like to participate in this competition.

  2. 2. A winery may enter a maximum of three (3) wine entries.

  3. 3. Each entry will consist of: three (3) bottles of the particular wine (750ml; 375ml acceptable for dessert wine entries), along with $32.

  4. 4. Each entry must arrive at the Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce no later than Thursday, Feburary __, 2011.

  5. 5. Entry fee checks must be made payable to the Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce.

  6. 6. Entrants must confirm that wines entered conform to State and Federal regulations and standards. At least thirty (30) cases were produced and at least one case will be available to the public to taste at the Festival.

  7. 7. Residual sugar information, if relevant, and appellation of wine should be indicated on each entrant's application.

  8. 8. Previous Gold medal award winners, from our past competitions are excluded for this year's competition.

  9. 9. Arrangements must be made by the winery or wine exhibitor to have wine entries sent to, delivered by a distributor, or delivered by an authorized agent to The Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce.
