Newport Seafood & Wine Festival

Amateur Wine Competition

This wine competition is open to amateur winemakers only and offers an opportunity for these individuals
to have their wines independently evaluated by a panel of judges. |
 |
There will be a limit of 75 entries for the 2012 Amateur Wine Competition. |
 |
Wines are scored on a 20 point system based on sight, smell, taste and overall quality. |
 |
Categories include: Dry Fruit, Sweet Fruit, Dry Berry, Sweet Berry, White Vinifera, White Non-Vinifera,
Red Vinifera, Red Non-Vinifera and Specialty, a category which includes all wines not found in other specified divisions. |
Winners will be awarded Bronze, Silver or Gold certificates and one overall winner will be selected as Best of Show.
Dates and Fees
Newport's Seafood & Wine Festival will be held February 23, 24, 25 & 26, 2012; however, amateur wine judging
occurs late in the month of January. The registration form, your bottle of wine, and a $10.00 fee per entry, must be returned no
later than 5pm on January 23rd to any of the Newport drop off points.
If you are delivering your entries to a non-Newport drop point, please do so by January 18, 2012.
Limit two entries per winemaker.
The fee is $10.00 per entry. Checks should be made payable to the Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce.

The following locations will accept entries directly from winemakers.
These locations also have entry forms which must accompany each wine entered.
