It's official: NOAA signs lease with Port of Newport [Aug 7, 2009]
Port of Newport General Manager Don Mann and David Hall, public affairs officer for the NOAA Office of Marine and Aviation Operations, confirmed Friday morning that NOAA officials had signed the 20-year lease with the port that will bring the agency's Pacific operations fleet to Yaquina Bay in 2011.

Waiting is no longer an option. Port of Newport officials find themselves immersed in a public feeding frenzy in the wake of the National
Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's selection of Newport as the operations homeport for its Pacific
fleet operations.

The wait is over. After a lengthy, closely watched, intensely lobbied, and eagerly anticipated process, National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) officials deemed Newport as the best fit for the agency's Marine Operations
Center - Pacific (MOC-P), announcing the selection Tuesday morning.
